The Truth About Falsely Accused Priests
he quotes NO research to underpine his assertions. he states "i have heard that half of accusations are false" .
this is hardly evidence based truth!
A site to discuss clergy sexual abuse of children and adult women. I founded MACSAS - UK. I live in Ireland. I was raped by an Anglican priest in the 1980's in the UK.. I later discovered he'd molested many other young adult students. My 2009 PhD was entitled 'The well from which we drink is poisoned - Clergy Sexual Exploitation of adult women'. my other blog discusses abuse of disabled children, disability rights: http://drragingwheels.bogspot.com
This probably reflects on (a) who he is talking to (who did he hear this from?), or (b) problems in his hearing. In 45 years of work on this issue I have NEVER heard the comment that "half of accusations are false." He is now unique NTERNATIONALLY in claiming this. None of the studies commissioned by the Church has claimed this. IT IS UTTER NONSENSE.
ReplyDeleteHaving written one of the few pieces on false & misleading complaints in the literatue, they are so infrequent that it took years to have enough to write about. They are rare enough to be a curiosity.
The Church needs to immediately respond to this. Silence implies consent and in this case I would think that the church would not want anyone to think that they think this is the case.
