There is NO WAY I want to see the Pope set foot in Ireland during the Eucharistic Congress. The ability of right wing/conservative Catholics to deify this man, this position in this Church is obscene.
Jesus may well have appointed Peter to be the 'head' of the Church but as I see it the sucessive Popes over the centuries have removed themselves COMPLETELY from any Jesus-vision at the start! Power, corruption, sheer evil and nastiness has come from that roost in Rome, especially where abuse of children is concerned that this Vatican elite can NEVER in my eyes be redeemed.
It is now up to the Christian Catholic lay person to redeem themselves from the papacy and establish the heart of Jesus amongst us as was intended.
